Eye Can Walk Fun Run: A Collaborative Effort to Empower the Disabled Community

The Eye Can Walk Fun Run, scheduled for September 14, 2024, at Kings Park Athletic Stadium, is gearing up for a remarkable day of fitness and philanthropy. With the support of key sponsors—Rockstreet, TNT Digital, Lotus FM, eThekwini Municipality, KZN Athletics, and Rising Sun Community Newspapers—this event is set to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities.

This year’s event, featuring a 5km and 10km walk/run, aligns with the theme “Let’s Walk for a Healthier Lifestyle,” emphasizing both physical well-being and community support. The KZN Blind and Deaf Society, with its extensive 87-year history, plays a pivotal role in this initiative, offering a range of services including social work, independence training, job placement, and more.

The event is also supported by Verulam AC and Checkstar Verulam Falcons, highlighting the importance of inclusivity in sports and recreation. Their partnership helps ensure that the Eye Can Walk Fun Run is accessible to all, further enhancing the community’s engagement and support for the cause.

“Our sponsors and partners are crucial in driving the success of this event,” said Veetha Sewkuran, event coordinator. “Their support not only enables us to host a fantastic event but also amplifies our efforts to raise awareness and funds for the KZN Blind and Deaf Society.”
